Demand of food sources from sea and continental waters has drastically increased in recent years. Almost all-worldwide fisheries are at their highest capacity. Any increment in water origin food has to be produced through aquaculture, which has grown in recent years (about 10% annual). Furthermore, aquaculture has a very important role in conservation of endangered species. However, among many other technical difficulties, illness prevention and/or control are very important.
Mexico and especially in the Northwest of the country, aquacultural development requires to focus on animal health, but there is not any specialized institution on this matter. |
